About Belong Center
Belong Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a clear mission: to end the loneliness epidemic and build a culture of belonging for people and the planet.
We design and activate real-world social infrastructure—from Belong Benches to Friendship Microgrants to citywide initiatives like Yellow Zones—all aimed at turning isolation into connection at scale.
Our work comes to life through neighborhood-based experiences and activations—from joyful, intergenerational block parties to everyday gathering points like Belong Benches.

About the Role
This is a part-time, high-ownership role with full accountability for execution and budget.
We’re looking for an Event Producer who knows how to bring people together in physical space—and understands that belonging is built through both moments and environments.
You will lead the production of Belong Center’s in-person activations across NYC—from block parties and neighborhood gatherings to Belong Bench installations and community moments around them.
This is not a passive role. You will take ideas from concept to reality—quickly, thoughtfully, and beautifully.
Fewer hours. Real ownership. Visible impact.
What You’ll Produce and DriveEvent Production (Core)
- Lead end-to-end production of Belong Center events (block parties, neighborhood gatherings, community activations)
- Secure permits, coordinate with city agencies, and manage all logistics (sound, layout, vendors, safety)
- Design the flow and experience of each event—from arrival to connection to closing
- Ensure gatherings are inclusive, intergenerational, and rooted in belonging
Belong Bench Activation
- Support rollout and activation of Belong Benches across NYC
- Coordinate installation logistics with city agencies and site partners
- Design simple, repeatable ways to bring benches to life (hosts, prompts, small gatherings)
- Ensure each bench becomes a real point of connection—not just an object
Neighborhood Partnerships
- Build relationships with local partners (community orgs, small businesses, artists, civic groups)
- Recruit and coordinate local hosts, volunteers, and facilitators
- Ensure activations feel locally rooted and owned—not top-down
On-the-Ground Execution
- Create clear run-of-show documents and production timelines
- Lead on-site execution with calm, clarity, and adaptability
- Troubleshoot in real time and ensure a cohesive, welcoming experience
Momentum & Scale
- Support rollout of a multi-event series (e.g., 100 Block Party Challenge)
- Capture learnings and refine playbooks for repeatable execution
- Help evolve Belong Center’s event model into something scalable across cities
Budget Ownership & Resourcing
- Own end-to-end budgets for all events and activations (block parties, gatherings, Belong Bench installations)
- Build and manage budgets from initial planning through reconciliation
- Make real-time tradeoffs to balance experience quality with cost efficiency
- Source and negotiate vendors, fabrication, and production costs
- Track spend, manage invoices, and ensure financial clarity across projects
- Partner with leadership on sponsorship or funding integrations tied to activations
Who You Are
- 4–7 years producing events, activations, or community programs
- Experience with public-facing or street-level events is a strong plus
- A builder—you’ve taken ideas from zero to reality in the physical world
- Comfortable navigating city systems (permits, parks, streets, community boards)
- Comfortable owning budgets and making decisions that impact both experience and bottom line
- Highly organized, self-directed, and adaptable
- Strong with people—you lead with warmth, clarity, and presence
- Based in NYC and excited to be in the field, not behind a laptop
- Energized by the mission of ending loneliness and building belonging
Not a fit: someone looking for a purely strategic, remote, or low-lift role. This is hands-on, people-facing work.
What We Offer
- Competitive part-time compensation, commensurate with experience
- Direct collaboration with a small, high-trust team
- The opportunity to produce experiences that meaningfully impact how people connect
- A culture rooted in belonging, creativity, and purpose
- Flexibility within a primarily in-person NYC environment
Why This Role Matters
Loneliness isn’t solved online. It’s solved in real life—on the block, on the bench, and between neighbors.
This role is about creating the conditions for connection to happen—again and again.
